If you’re worried about your child right now, you are far from alone. So many parents see their teenagers feeling anxious, unmotivated, or stuck and it’s heartbreaking to watch. It can be even harder if your child is coming to terms with living with ADHD or other neurodiverse needs, where school pressures, social struggles and daily frustrations can build up fast.

Maybe you’ve thought about therapy but feel unsure. Perhaps therapy feels too clinical, too medical, or just too heavy-handed for what your child is going through. You might think: They’re not in crisis, but they’re definitely not coping either.

That’s exactly the space Synapse was designed for.

Synapse offers Behavioural Health Coaching: a safe, structured, evidence-based way to support young people aged 11–25 who aren’t in crisis but still need help. Coaching is proactive, skills-based and designed to keep small challenges from growing into much bigger ones.

What Makes Synapse Different?

Synapse behavioural health coaching is not therapy and it’s not crisis care. Instead, it focuses on practical, real-world skills. Our Coaches are trained to help young people build confidence, manage stress, develop better emotional regulation and strengthen their day-to-day coping skills.

This is especially powerful for neurodiverse young people, like those with ADHD, who may struggle with planning, focus, or managing frustration. Coaching gives them simple, relatable tools to make sense of these challenges and build on their strengths.

Coaching can work beautifully alongside therapy, too. It complements treatment by giving young people opportunities to practise skills, build self-belief, and stay steady between or after therapy sessions. For others, it serves as a bridge, providing support before more intensive help is needed.

A Client Story – meet Josh

Josh was 14 when he joined Synapse. Bright, funny, and kind — but struggling. ADHD made school life frustrating, friendships hard to manage and emotions overwhelming. Josh felt misunderstood and defeated. His parents worried that therapy would feel stigmatising, but they knew he needed more than “just try harder.”

With his Synapse Coach, Josh worked on practical skills like time management, breaking down big tasks, and handling strong emotions without exploding or shutting down. His coach shared his own experiences living with ADHD, helping Josh see that “messy” didn’t mean “broken.”

Over time, Josh became more confident. He started finishing homework, reconnecting with friends, and asking for help without shame. His parents saw the spark coming back, and for the first time in a long time, Josh believed he could handle life on his own terms.

What Does a Synapse Behavioural Health Coaching Programme Look Like?

Behavioural Health Coaching is structured, goal-focused and built around your child’s real-life challenges. It might include building emotional literacy, handling transitions, or developing social confidence.

Young people meet one-to-one with their Coach — a relatable, near-peer mentor with lived experience and professional training. All our Coaches are backed by a team of registered mental health professionals and care managers, ensuring coaching is safe, consistent and effective.

Parents are kept in the loop with progress reviews and regular updates. That means you’ll always know how things are going, while still respecting your child’s independence and sense of ownership.

Sessions happen online (but can happen face-to-face if you wish) with no long waiting lists, making support accessible right when it’s needed most.

Why Synapse?

Synapse equips young people with lifelong skills. Things like confidence, problem-solving, resilience and self-awareness protect mental health now and  they set a foundation for thriving adulthood.

If your child is living with ADHD or simply feels overwhelmed, stuck, or low in confidence — but therapy feels too big a step — Synapse might be exactly what you’re looking for.

We’re here to help young people feel seen, heard and capable, giving them the tools to build hope, courage and self-belief.

You don’t have to do this alone. And neither does your child.
